INTRODUCING
LEE MIHYANG













이미향 작가의 회화는 반복되는 패턴과 리듬으로 이루어진 

추상의 장면들이다. 그러나 그의 추상은 형식적 실험의 

결과라기보다, 오래전 몸에 스며든 감각과 기억의 흔적에 

가깝다. 화면 위에 축적된 선과 흔적, 번짐과 겹침은 

작가가 지나온 시간과 내면의 결을 조용히 드러낸다.


Lee Mihyang’s paintings present abstract scenes composed of recurring patterns and rhythms. Yet, her abstraction is less a result of formal experimentation than a trace of senses and memories deeply ingrained in the body over time. The accumulation of lines, marks, blurs, and layers upon the canvas quietly reveals the passage of time and the inner textures of the artist’s soul.

작가에게 '겔 미디움'은 단순한 재료를 넘어 유년 시절의 기억과 현대적 수행을 잇는 매개체입니다. 작가는 부족한 수제비 반죽에 물을 섞어 모두를 배불리려 했던 기억을 캔버스 위로 가져와

화면 위에 층을 쌓아 올리며 인내의 행위를 반복합니다. 작가는 이를 '기다림의 반죽'이라 부르며  재료의 물성을 다스리는 과정을 통해 과거의 결핍을 숭고한 예술적 리듬으로 승화시킵니다.


For artist,  'Gel Medium' connects childhood memories with artistic discipline. Inspired by the act of thinning dough to share a meal during lean times, she layers the medium in a repetitive ritual 

of patience. Calling this process 'Kneading the Wait,' she transforms past scarcity into a sublime rhythm, turning the physical properties of her materials into a profound texture of time.
